The ELM Board of Directors and staff are excited to invite you to this hour-long reception celebrating the congregations of St. Francis and First United who, thirty years ago, boldly called Ruth Frost, Phyllis Zillhart, and Jeff Johnson to serve as their pastors – defying ELCA policy and risking discipline for the sake of prophetically claiming that God’s call to publicly-out and partnered LGBTQIA+ individuals to serve the church is holy and legitimate.
This event, entitled “30 Extraordinary Years of Ministry: Boldness – Faith – Persistence – Love,” will feature voices and stories from ELM’s past and present including members of the call committees that called Jeff, Ruth, and Phyllis; ELM’s current Executive Director and Program Director, the Rev. Amanda Gerken-Nelson and Olivia LaFlamme; and, the extraordinary ordinands themselves: the Revs. Jeff Johnson, Phyllis Zillhard, and Ruth Frost.
Please join us for this time of remembering and celebration!
The reception will take place live June 28th on Zoom at 2:30pm Pacific Daylight Time.
To RSVP, please email info@elm.org in order to gain access to the Zoom invitation.
If you are not able to make this reception but would like to help us celebrate, please consider making a $30.00 donation in honor of 30 extraordinary years of ministry by clicking this link.
