Rehearsals are Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM in the organ loft. The service starts at 11:00 AM. Attendance is open. If you come to rehearsal then you can sing for the service. If you will be out of town or sleeping in the next two Sundays, no problem. You’ll still be part of the group when you return. There are additional rehearsals for concert dates and performances. Commitment for concert dates and concert rehearsals is mandatory.
Rehearsals are focused but relaxed. We start with breathing and vocal warm-up mixed with the reading of the hymns and psalm chants of the day. There are typically two motets to learn, or review if we’ve sung them recently. Often there are polyphonic Mass parts to rehearse as well (Kyrie, Gloria, etc.). The pace can be challenging, the results rewarding. We are bound together by our love of singing choral music.
The Sunday morning liturgies at St. Francis are musically rich, filled with great organ and choral music as well as hymns, chorales and chants from the Lutheran and Anglican traditions. St. Francis is a vibrant, active congregation committed to and supportive of an excellent music program.
