SF AIDS Walk 2012

San Francisco Aids Walk July 15, 2012

The St. Vincent de Paul Committee supports the St. Francis/SFSU Geography team at AIDS Walk San Francisco, which is regularly ranked among the top fundraising teams in the walk each year. This video from the 2006 AIDS Walk explores the history of our AIDS Walk team.

AIDS Walk Results

We had 32 folks in Golden Gate Park wearing our t-shirts and carrying the placards of the friends and lovers we have lost to AIDS.  Together with team members who raised money but did not walk, our total raised came $27,666.  And, of course, more pledges will come in. We can increase that by gently reminding potential sponsors that the closing date for this year is August 10th.

Special thanks to the following: Gabriel Proo for helping with everything, Timur Muhrlin and Lawrence Mortensen for driving our “stuff” to the park at 7:00 AM Sunday, Carl Tebell for making the lunch and for helping me buy food, and accompanying me to the park at 7:00 AM, Iris Vaughan for collecting the statistics in the park, to Grant Burger for agreeing to take over the captaincy next year, and to Dave Walda for lots of things but especially for retrieving and replacing our placards from the church attic.

And of course all my thanks to all the folks who walked (19 Geographers and 12 Lutherans,) who raised money and who sponsored the walkers.  My guess is that everyone in our congregation is somewhere in there.

Gabriel and I are leaving July 19th for Norway and returning August 5th.  If you have questions while we are gone consult Grant Burger or Dave Walda.  I will try to get an email out to you between August 5 and 10th

Keep asking for sponsors!  Max
