Disputatio on Faith & AI: Online and at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary

In a constantly evolving digital age, artificial intelligence (AI) has become part and parcel of modern life. Given its impact, as well as the overwhelming enthusiasm for and protest against it, how do we best live in the world with the reality of AI? How do we respond to it faithfully and theologically?

Join online or in Berkeley on Wednesday, February 25 from 8:30 am - 3 pm for a dynamic day of inquiry!

Call Committee discussion, Sunday, March 15, noon - 1:00 PM  The Call Committee will have a kick-off lunch and meeting with the congregation after church to discuss the call process and to start gathering information. The Committee is planning to do small group zoom calls and for the non-techie members, telephone calls, so everyone has a chance to share their thoughts.  The Committee will also be mailing a survey early in the process.

Neighborhood movie, Sunday, March 15, 4:00 PM Enjoy an uplifting afternoon of music, laughter, and community as we watch the classic film, Sister Act.  Admittance is free. Doors to the parish hall open at 4:00 PM and the showing begins at 4:30. There will be refreshments and prizes, and all are welcome! Bring a friend or neighbor and share the joy.

Help Us Fill Our Parish Hall Bulletin Board!  As we continue to celebrate the St. Francis community, we’re refreshing the bulletin board in the Parish Hall—and we’d love to include you!

We want to create a joyful, welcoming display that reflects the people who make this church feel like home.

Outreach Team member William Brogan will be taking individual photos/headshots during coffee hour and fellowship time to help fill out the board. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let him know — we want everyone to feel comfortable and included. For more information or to schedule your photo, please see William Brogan or another member of the Outreach Team (Kenji Nishiura, Brian Border).

Thank you for helping us create a bulletin board that truly looks like St. Francis — warm, diverse, joyful, and full of grace.

“Joyful Beginnings” Stewardship Pledge Report

Our goal for 2026 is to encourage all members and friends of St. Francis to participate in the pledge program. To view our progress, please see the “new growth” illustration on the west wall of the Parish Hall. For every pledge received between now and the end of January, a new leaf will be added to the tree!

Number of 2026 pledges received so far = 56

Our stewardship theme is “Joyful Beginnings”. Pledge forms and stewardship materials were mailed again this week. Packets are also available from the ushers, and from Irene in the parish office: (415) 621-2635, admin@sflcsf.org. If you haven’t returned your pledge form, please mail it to the church or bring it with you to worship as soon as you are able.  Thank you!   The St. Francis Stewardship Committee
