But I'm A Cheerleader (2000) Megan (Natasha Lyonne) considers herself a typical American girl. She excels in school and cheerleading, and she has a handsome football-playing boyfriend, even though she isn't that crazy about him. So she's stunned when her parents decide she's gay and send her to True Directions, a boot camp meant to alter her sexual orientation.

In addition to the movie there will be pizza, popcorn, candy, beverages and prizes.

Theology on Tap   Second Monday of the month | 6:00–7:30/8:00 PM
Next gathering: June 8 | Pilsner Inn, Church Street (SF)

Faith, questions, good conversation—and maybe a drink. Join us for Theology on Tap, a relaxed evening of community, laughter, and real talk about the things that matter. We’ll explore spiritual and theological questions in a lighthearted, grounded, and distinctly Lutheran way—everything from God and prayer to “why church?” to liturgy and beyond. No prep needed. No pressure. Just bring your curiosity (and maybe a friend).

We gather every second Monday at 6:00 PM at the Pilsner Inn. Come as you are, stay as long as you like. All are welcome.  For more information, contact Pr. Christian.

Liberation is at the heart of queer music-making, and we invite you to join us in exercising the freedom to sing our truths at Queertopia. From protest chants to soaring queer anthems, our chorus raises its voice in celebration of queer resilience and trans liberation.

This vibrant program features choral works by trans composers Michael Bussewitz-Quarm and Mari Esabel Valverde, alongside songs by Laura Mvula, Kacey Musgraves, Sam Smith, Starship, and more.

More than a concert, Queertopia is a gathering rooted in community empowerment and shared inspiration. Join us for an evening of harmony, resistance, tenderness, and hope as we manifest a world where everybody is free.

Vicar John Brett at St. Francis | Sunday, June 14
As part of our “Faith in the Neighborhood” series John will be preaching in our worship and after worship he will offer a presentation on SF CARES in the parish hall during coffee hour.  All are welcome!

John is currently completing his seminary education and candidacy for ministry with the Sierra Pacific Synod of the ELCA. He is no stranger to St. Francis, having served with the San Francisco Night Ministry and as president of SF CARES, a nonprofit organization supporting unhoused and other vulnerable adults in San Francisco.
