MINISTRIES & PARTNERSHIPS

St. Francis Lutheran Church is proud to support our local community with ministries and partnerships that enrich neighbors’ lives and nourish their bodies and spirits.

SAN FRANCISCO-MARIN FOOD BANK

We closely work with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank to host one of their distribution locations every Tuesday morning. Eligibility to participate is determined by the food bank. Please contact them here to learn more, or call the Parish Office at (415) 621-2635.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Our Community Engagement Team organizes the Faith in the Neighborhood series every third Sunday of the month, with a guest preacher from a community ministry or organization, followed by an informational forum during coffee hour. Please join us any third Sunday to explore community connections with us! Additionally, our neighborhood movie screenings and social events are open to the public.

SENIOR PROGRAM

Our weekly Senior Program is held Wednesdays at 152 Church Street from 10 am to 1 pm, beginning with hospitality featuring coffee and tea, followed by an informational/entertainment program and then a luncheon (at the cost of $2.00). If interested in joining as a participant or volunteer, please contact the Facilities Manager at Facilities@sflcsf.org or call the Parish Office (415) 621-2635.

MUSIC AT ST. FRANCIS

Music plays an important role in the life of the parish. The liturgy is largely sung and employs a variety of sources and styles. Hymns both old and new, Lutheran chorales, shape-note, gospel orthodox chant, organ music of the great composers and choral motets make up a rich musical patchwork during the Sunday morning service.

We’re excited to invite you to join our Impromptu Choir — a fun, informal group open to everyone! No experience is necessary — just a willingness to sing and share in joyful music-making. Come add your voice—we’d love to have you with us! Practice begins at 10:15 AM, just before worship.

Music plays a role in the social life of the church, as well. St. Francis hosts concerts throughout the year. There is often a musical performance at the Wednesday Senior Program, and there are semi-annual events such as the Pink Saturday showtune cabaret. At St. Francis, music touches every aspect of our lives, both in the communal singing, in deep reflective moments and in just having good fun together.

FRIENDS OF ST. FRANCIS CHILDCARE CENTER

Their Mission

To provide comprehensive educationally based childcare services in a culturally and economically diverse urban setting. The Center’s model promotes the physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being of the children served through active involvement of parents and support from the community.

Their Work

For nearly 50 years, Friends of St. Francis Child Care Center has provided high-quality, affordable childcare and innovative early education programs for the San Francisco community. The inclusive early childhood education program welcomes children from all cultural and economic backgrounds, fostering an environment where they can thrive, learn, and grow. Licensed for ages two to five, the Center currently enrolls eight toddlers and 30 preschoolers.

Parent engagement and family support are integrated throughout the programs. Through intentional teaching and a thoughtfully designed natural environment, we inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Parent tuition and four subsidy funding streams ensure families of all incomes can access services, fostering a more inclusive community. Now, more than ever, the Center relies on continued funding to sustain this vital support. For more information, or to make a donation, go to https://www.fosf-childcare.org/.
